Dear families and friends of the YCC kids of Forest Lawn and Ogden,

We hope you are all enjoying the school breaks! Our houses have been full of life and laughter over the last few weeks! Numbers are definitely up in Forest Lawn, which has been super-fun!

Here’s all you need to know this week!

1. Music sessions in Forest Lawn start April 9th. Both Forest Lawn and Ogden kids can register. Kids will have the chance to listen to musicians play and try new musical instruments. This is an opportunity to discover something they might love and learn from some great artists! Kids can also drop in just to see if they want to join in. Register by emailing info@youthcentresofcalgary.com

2. As spring rounds the corner, kids are outside more, with freedom to roam the neighbourhoods. And with that, we have seen an uptick in bullying in the communities. While our staff and volunteers can’t oversee what’s happening off-site, we do want to have a good understanding of what’s going on and who’s at risk of bullying so we can give them support when they are with us and protect the communities’ kids as best we can. The centres are safe places where we don’t tolerate or welcome kids who are threatening or hurting others. Our staff are here to model “it’s cool to be kind”. No one could dispute that they are that – cool and kind. Please reach out anytime with concerns.

3. Our music rooms are quiet and cozy places to relax and play, filled with delicate musical instruments. After years of use, many are breaking or broken. We encourage kids to be gentle with the instruments so they can be used for a long time. Thanks 😊

4. EASTER HOURS: Both centres are closed tomorrow, Good Friday.

Forest Lawn will be closed Monday, reopening on Tuesday and for the rest of the week.

Ogden will be OPEN on Monday to all kids, with the usual hours of 2:30-6:00.
