Shona Leakos

I have been teaching Pilates for nearly 20 years, and I currently teach people in my small home studio a couple of days a week.  I have been married for 35 years and I have 2 adult sons, along with a daughter in law, and a “soon to be” daughter in law.

I love nature and being outdoors, in any season!  I enjoy hiking and golfing in the summer, XC skiing and snow shoeing in the winter.  Walking our dog Farley in the many open spaces in Calgary sets me up for a good day.

My parents were big volunteers when I was growing up, so I’ve always been involved in various charities.  When a friend introduced me to YCC during the pandemic, I knew this was an opportunity to be involved with something different than anything I had ever been a part of. After meeting Jane and taking a tour of the house, I decided to volunteer once a week.

I love interacting with the kids at YCC and I am getting to know them better week to week.  I enjoy playing various sports or games with them.  But listening to the kids interact with each other in such a positive and enthusiastic way, is a highlight in being in the house.
