Christie is a writer, musician, songwriter and teacher. As a mother she is highly aware of the challenges related to raising kids, even in the most stable situations, and has committed volunteer time and effort to support at-risk youth and help minimize the effects of cyclical poverty. In addition to her participation on the board of YCC, she is a volunteer with the Youth Justice Society of Calgary helping oversee extrajudicial sanctions for youth who face criminal charges, and she’s a past volunteer for the Elizabeth Fry Society and Cornerstone Youth Centre. Christie also served on the board of the Calgary Emergency Women’s Shelter. She has degrees in education, international development and public relations; three kids; one large dog; a husband and a bike she enjoys riding.
